Water Fitness
Water Fitness (ages 13+)
Water exercise is a great way to burn calories without putting extra stress on your joints. The ability to swim is not necessary for participation. Schedules are located in the front lobby or at www.springfieldymca.org.
Arthritis
The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program is designed to provide the opportunity for people with arthritis to participate in a recreational group activity. The 40-minute, non-clinical program consists of 68 range of motion muscle strengthening exercises. The water provides added buoyancy to help support joints, decrease pain and/or stiffness and help improve/maintain joint flexibility.

Deep Water Arthritis
This class offers the same benefits as the shallow water arthritis class but takes place in the deep end of the pool. You must have basic swimming skills to join the class.

Aqua Chi
This class will leave you feeling relaxed! Stretching, breathing and relaxation skills are practiced.

Water yoga
Water yoga works on your flexibility, strength, and balance. The buoyancy of the water makes standing poses easier and puts less stress on the muscles and joints.

Water Fitness Level 1
This 40-minute class is a low to moderate intensity water aerobics workout consisting of a warm-up, 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, flexibility exercises, and cool down.

Water Fitness Level 2
The 45-minute class has a warm up, 35 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, and cool down.
Water Fitness Level 3
This is a moderate to high intensity water aerobics class emphasizing aerobic conditioning, toning, muscle training, interval aerobic training, and deep-water training. Participation in the deep water portion is optional.

Aqua Zumba
This is a water aerobics class with all the fun of Zumba! Participants enjoy Latin dance moves with the added resistance of water and low impact on joints.

Water Fitness
With an 8-lane competitive pool and a 3-lane warm water therapy pool with current to walk against, you can expect creative classes that will be easy on your joints at the Kerasotes branch. Please check back for program details coming soon.

Punk Rope is a playful cross between recess and boot camp. Themed classes, schoolyard games, rope jumping, and raise-the-roof music bring out the kid in all of us.

Pilates
Pilates strengthens the core muscles that surround and support the spine, and progresses to the extremities. A focus on breathing and balance makes this a class that addresses all areas of fitness for your body.

This class also focuses on your core but is accompanied by Yoga-based stretches to warm up and stretch out the muscles being exercised.

Step Blast
This class provides a complete aerobics program that combines all the fun cardiovascular benefits of aerobics with an excellent muscle-forming workout for buttocks, thighs, and calves.

Power Pump
Barbells are used during the entire class. Members can increase the weight that is used for resistance to build more muscle mass and strength. Burn calories effectively in this fast-paced class and watch your strength and muscle definition improve dramatically. Free for Members
R.I.P.P.E.D.
R.I.P.P.E.D. stands for Resistance, Interval, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, and Diet. It’s a workout that masterfully combines an easy, yet effective cardiovascular routine interlaced with weights and resistance. It’s a combination that drives up your endurance and gets your body moving.

Strictly Abs
Strictly Abs is a 15-minute class designed to work your entire abdominal region.

TNT-Tabatha and Tools
Tabatha is a form of high intensity interval training which is performed 8 times for a total of 4 minutes at a high intensity. This class utilizes battling ropes, kettle bells, prowler sled 2, medicine balls and partner -resisted speed training devices. These tools have been featured on “The Biggest Loser” and used in elite gyms across the country.

Designed to work the entire body, Turbo Kick is a fun and challenging class combining cardiovascular exercise with toning moves.

The Ultimate Workout
Conditioning both your anaerobic and aerobic energy systems, this class boosts your overall cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and fat loss without the loss of muscle mass. This is a very strenuous class designed for participants who can exercise 20-30 minutes at 70-85% of their estimated maximum heart rate. Free for Members

This class allows you to incorporate weights while engaging your core, a great way to strengthen your mid-section while toning the rest of your body.

Yoga
A fitness-based yoga class blending the Astanga and Vinyasa styles of Hatha Yoga to increase your flexibility, balance, body strength, and awareness. By practicing this ancient art, you will increase your sense of well-being and your ability to handle stress, and learn better breathing and relaxation techniques.

Zumba fuses Latin and international music/dance themes to create a dynamic, exciting fitness program.

Need group accountability or prizes to kick your weight loss into gear? The Springfield YMCA’s Lose Big program has helped hundreds drop weight and continues to get even better.
