YMCA Stories!

“As a single mother attending college full time and working
nearly full-time, our time is limited.  We live with family so the
time we spend at the YMCA is very important because my
daughter and I are together creating a strong bond between us.
As a parent, this is the most important thing to me.  Thank you!”

“My child and I have been greatly blessed by our membership at the YMCA.

I am very grateful to our sponsors.  There were times in my life when going

to the Y literally saved my sanity.  It helps to be able to go somewhere and

work out, play, swim or visit the staff and friends at the YMCA.  I am a recent

college graduate and don’t have very much money.  It really helps to

have sponsors and I am grateful to them.”

“The YMCA is a very safe place for my grandchildren to go.

The YMCA has brought a positive impact in our lives.  I am a single

grandparent raising 7 children with two knee replacements.

I am not able, by being on disability, to go any other place that can keep

my legs strong and provide a safe, fun, educational place for the grandchildren.

The doctors say that I need to continue therapy and exercise so that I can

walk better and lose weight.  I am on a very limited amount of income since

I took my grandchildren in so that they could all stay together.

I couldn’t bear to think of the children ever being separated by the state.”
