Meet Roxanne. Roxanne teaches Tuesday evenings at the Downtown branch.

By November 28, 2018Y Stories

Roxanne likes working with our beginner swimmers to help them feel comfortable in the water.

Roxanne took swim lessons from parent and kid lessons until she was 13 or 14, at the Springfield YMCA. Before she started working at the YMCA, she taught swim lessons for three summers with the Springfield Park District. She works full time as a school social worker with middle schoolers. She says I keep teaching lessons because I like working with kids and the pool gives me a chance to work with a different population than my full-time job.  I also really love the opportunities that the Y provides for children with special needs and the chance to get to work more with those kids one-on-one.” In her free time, she loves to read, walk outside (when it’s nice) and spend time with family/friends.
