YMCA of Springfield is excited to announce they will be hosting the 2021 YMCA Kids Triathlon. Last year, the YMCA was not able to host this awesome event due to COVID. We have have been overwhelmed with people asking if this event will take place this year. This has become a favorite event of our employees and our volunteers. Kids ages 5-14 will get the opportunity to swim, bike and run to to the finish line. The event will take place June 5, 2021 at the Kerasotes YMCA. Registration for the event opens Friday, April 16, 2021. All children will need to pass a swim test, and have their bike checked prior to the event. Wheelfast in Chatham will be performing bike safety checks and will tag your bike to indicate it has passed the safety check. There will be four age categories: 5-6, 7-10, 11-12, 13-14. Trophies will be presented to first, second and third place for boys and girls in each age category and all kids will receive a finishing medal. All proceeds from this event will benefit the YMCA Strong Kids fund. This fund provides scholarship memberships for kids and families in the community who cannot afford to participate in YMCA membership and programs.
