Camp Wa-Kon-Tah is our largest camp. Situated between Springfield and Chatham on Iron Bridge Road, our beautiful lakeside location has much to offer for a summer full of fun and adventure. On 26 acres of land, campers are given the chance to enjoy the traditional camp experience, full of hiking, canoeing, swimming, archery, and much more! Craft and STEM projects are offered in our newly upgraded lodge facilities, where kids will also start and end their day at camp with celebration. Counselors will lead kids in activities every day to help them grow physically, mentally, and morally based on the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect.
Each week, a new theme is chosen to build the activities and learning opportunities for the kids. Many activities and crafts will be planned around these fun themes to make each week unique and exciting. The campers, in their groups, will collaborate on a large project each week that will be presented to the rest of the camp on Friday. There will also be a field trip scheduled each week where the kids will be able to travel to different places to learn and grow. Some fun field trips that are planned include Knight’s Action Park, the St. Louis Aquarium, the Illinois State Museum, and many more exciting places. We hope your child will join us and have a blast this summer at YMCA Camp Wa-Kon-Tah!
