Lincoln Land Community College Students’ Project Benefits YMCA Summer Camp & After School Kids

By April 23, 2018Y Stories

This big bunch of awesome college students at Lincoln Land Community College spent part of their semester giving back to their community.  The students from Dr. Dr. Taiebeh Hosseinali’s class, Diversity of School and Society were given an assignment to design a community outreach/make a difference project.  After discussing which project they were going to support, they chose the YMCA. The project resulted in collecting items for outdoor play for the YMCA summer camp and afterschool sites.  They named the project “Kicking it for YMCA.”

Students were responsible for marketing the project and placed collection boxes at Rochester First Baptist, Silverleaf Children’s Academy in Rochester, Bank and Trust Company in Rochester, and Hampton’s Inn. They collected sidewalk chalk, bubbles, frisbees, balls, and jump ropes. In addition, they raised over $200 in cash that they used to purchase a volleyball and badminton net and an assortment of outdoor play equipment.

Thank you to Lincoln Land Community College’s class Diversity of School and Society!  Your generosity is truly appreciated!
