YMCA Gymnastics Team Flips Over Their New Space

On Wednesday, July 15 the YMCA of Springfield gymnastics team got a sneak peek at their soon-to-be new space.  About thirty gymnasts and their parents braved the bad weather to inspect their new location. The current downtown gymnastics space is just under 2,000 square feet but it is more than double that in the new building. The new center was designed by Megan Edwards, YMCA Gymnastics Director, and Jerry Fontanna, floor manager for the 1996 Olympics.  It will have a full-size floor, foam pit, recreational and preschool equipment and multiple training aids. This new center will allow for the program to expand class offerings and grow the preschool program. Megan said, “This is a huge improvement for this program which has grown substantially in the last few years. Gymnastics has been such a big part of my own life and I am honored and excited to take those experiences and make this program in its beautiful new space the best gymnastics program I can for the kids in Springfield.”
