Meet Employee, Sue Jackson

By September 6, 2017September 7th, 2017Uncategorized

Sue Jackson has been an employee with the Springfield YMCA for thirty-four years.  She is the Administrative Assistant to the CEO, Angie Sowle.  In addition to keeping Angie organized, Sue also supports the Accounting and Fund Development departments. As the longest standing employee, Sue offers incredible insight and knowledge to current employees regarding the history of the Y.

When we say, there is a Y in every familY, we are talking about Sue and her family.  When she started this job thirty-four years ago, she was a widow raising two children.  She loved the atmosphere of the YMCA and its mission.  This position offered a lot of flexibility so she could work and still be available for her kids.  Because of that, her two girls practically “grew up” at the YMCA. Both of her daughters worked for the Y and now they enjoy the awesome programs the Y offers.

The things she loves most about her job is the variety in the daily tasks and the variety of people.  She says “The staff, donors, and members add richness to her day.” She loves the mission and the people the Y serves.   She is most proud of how she has seen the Strong Kids Fund grow over the years.  This fund allows for the YMCA to deliver its mission of providing for everyone regardless of age, income or background.  She is incredibly proud to be part of such an integral and important part of this community.

In her free time, she enjoys working out, reading, crocheting and watching movies.  But what she enjoys the MOST is spending time with family; in particular, her six grandchildren.
